What was wrong
A corner lot means twice the frontage and twice the cost to do properly. The owners had a number in mind and it was not a landscape design number.
What we did about it
Spent the budget on the walk and the front door and did almost nothing to the side frontage. Nobody looks at it.
Replaced a cracked concrete path with a wider one so two people can walk up to the door side by side.
Kept the plant list to four species repeated in quantity. It costs less than fifteen singles and it reads better.
Put the lawn on the six-visit program. Two seasons to bring it back, at a fifth of what sod would have cost.
Left room in the beds so the same plants can be divided and moved to the side yard in three years at no cost.
